On July 8, GEELY, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, announced its auto sales for June and also released the sales of its independent brands for June. In June, GEELY's total auto sales was 266,164 units, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%, among which the sales of electric vehicles was 120,879 units, a year-on-year increase of 53.1%, and the penetration rate of electric vehicles reached 45.4%. This means that the sales of GEELY's electric vehicles continue to rise. GEELY has achieved great success in the field of new energy vehicles and has established strong competitiveness.
GEELY separately announced the sales data of its acquired brands. Proton's auto sales reached 10,999 units, accounting for 19.1% of the market share, with a cumulative sales of 73,696 units from January to June. As a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, GEELY showed sincerity to Proton by giving up 0.1% of the shares in the 2021 bid, thus winning the acquisition.
Volvo Automobiles is a luxury car brand acquired by GEELY. As of 2024, the global sales volume is 71,514 units, a year-on-year increase of 8%. The sales volume of electric vehicles is 34,382 units, a year-on-year increase of 41%. The proportion of electric vehicle sales continues to increase, which continuously deepens the high-end image of the brand. It's worth mentioning that the cumulative global sales from January to June are 388.073 units, a year-on-year increase of 14%.
