[PCauto] On January 10, 2025, Tesla made a major announcement with the launch of the New Model Y. The rear-wheel-drive version is priced at RM195,450, while the long-range version is priced at RM242,450.

The New Model Y draws inspiration from the design elements of the Cyber Off-Road SUV and the Cyber Autonomous Electric Vehicle. The overall design of the car is more robust with smoother lines. The newly designed front bumper and side mirrors cut through the airflow, combined with the new wheel hub design and rear diffuser, achieving a perfect balance of low drag and lift, resulting in a body with a low drag coefficient of 0.23Cd.

At the rear, the vehicle features the world's first through-type diffuse tail light. Once illuminated, it is highly recognizable and becomes one of the most distinctive features of the New Model Y. The body is available in five color options: Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Glacier Blue, Quicksilver, and Ultra Red.

The newly tuned suspension system, along with the powerful body stability system, ensures a smoother ride on mountain roads, more stability at high speeds, and a 51% improvement in vibration damping on rough surfaces. The addition of surround ambient lighting and front seat ventilation creates a warm and tech-rich environment inside the car.

The rear seats not only feature more comfortable headrest shapes, but the seat cushions are extended by 15mm, greatly improving rear passenger comfort. The "one-touch fold" feature allows for a generous 2,130 liters of storage space. The newly added panoramic glass roof with a silver coating has improved sun-blocking and heat insulation capabilities, and with a significant increase in quietness, it creates an experience as comfortable as "home."

In terms of range, the rear-wheel-drive debut version of the New Model Y offers a range of 466 km (WLTP), with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h.

The all-wheel-drive debut version extends the range to 551 km (WLTP estimated), with a faster 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h.

The New Model Y comes standard with Tesla's autonomous driving hardware, equipped with 8 cameras, and supports OTA remote software upgrades. The vehicle features an extremely strong body structure and includes driver assistance functions that are 10 times safer than humans, providing comprehensive travel safety.

The launch of the New Model Y showcases Tesla's leadership in the electric vehicle sector and its profound insights into the future of mobility. Its breakthroughs and innovations in range, handling performance, autonomous driving technology, and other areas are expected to have a far-reaching impact on the entire new energy vehicle market. The future market performance is highly anticipated.
