【PCauto】At the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, Nissan unveiled a highly anticipated model — the electric version of the R32 GT-R, which has sent car enthusiasts into a frenzy.

The transformation of the powertrain is the biggest highlight of this vehicle. The original 2.6-liter inline-six twin-turbocharged engine has been replaced by two electric motors. Each motor produces 218 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, with the four-wheel-drive system bringing the total output to 435 PS and 680 Nm of torque, a significant increase compared to the original engine's 280 PS and 353 Nm.

The transformation of the power system is the highlight of this car. The original 2.6-liter inline-six twin-turbocharged engine has been replaced by two electric motors, each offering 218 horsepower and 340 N·m of torque, and the four-wheel-drive system makes this car's total output reach 435Ps and 680N·m of torque, a significant increase compared to the original internal combustion engine's 280Ps horsepower and 353N·m output.

However, due to the additional weight of around 367 kg from the electric system, engineers adjusted the power and torque to match the original power-to-weight ratio. To accommodate the 62 kWh battery pack from the Leaf Nismo race car, the rear seats were removed, though Nissan has not disclosed the range of this electric version. It's worth noting that the dual-motor all-wheel-drive system offers faster torque response compared to the original mechanical system, allowing for better torque distribution between the front and rear wheels.

Inside, the electric R32 GT-R maintains as much of the original design as possible, but the seats have been replaced with custom Recaro seats. The dashboard, instrument panel, and sound system have been modernized, and to simulate the original driving experience, paddle shifters have been installed to replicate the sensation of gear shifting. Additionally, the sound system plays the roar of the RB26 DETT engine.

In addition, this car even features paddle shifters. Through software programming, it can simulate the "shift shock" of a traditional transmission, and then the speakers play the sound of the RB26DETT engine, making the driver feel as if they are driving an internal combustion engine version of the GT-R123.

This electric R32 GT-R is not only a tribute by Nissan to a classic model but also an exploration of the future of automotive development. By combining the classic exterior design with advanced electric technology, it offers fans a fresh driving experience and demonstrates the limitless potential of classic models in the electric era.
