Some may refuse electric vehicles, but they probably won't refuse a smarter car, and the Jaecoo J7 is designed for them.

Even though cars like the Perodua Ativa, Perodua Nexis, and Proton Saga are quite popular in Malaysia, some people are looking for a fresher driving experience.

Every time you see a photo of the Jaecoo J7, you might think it’s a large car. In reality, the car’s dimensions are 4500×1865×1680mm, with a wheelbase of 2672mm, which makes it slightly smaller than the Honda CR-V. It appears large because of the Jaecoo J7's minimalist design, which even shows some resemblance to a Land Rover. This is no surprise, as the brand behind the Jaecoo J7, Chery, is a partner of Land Rover in China.

Just like Range Rover, jaecoo j7 is a powerful SUV. It has a high ground clearance of up to 200mm and 600mm, sufficient to handle Malaysia's unpaved roads and light off-roading.

The Jaecoo J7 is powered by a 1.6T engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The engine produces 194 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque, with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options available. The front-wheel drive version is priced at RM138,800, ideal for daily road driving, while the all-wheel drive version is priced at RM148,800 and is more suited for light off-road adventures.

While these are the core specifications of the Jaecoo J7, what’s even more exciting is its interior and intelligent driving features.

Inside, the Jaecoo J7 comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.8-inch central touchscreen, and an HUD (Head-Up Display) system. Once you sit in the car, you are surrounded by three display devices, with the 14.8-inch central screen standing out. It not only offers a unique operating system but also features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, ensuring smooth operation on the large display.

The Jaecoo J7’s ADAS 2.5 (Advanced Driver Assistance System) includes 21 functions, such as ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), LKA (Lane Keep Assist), AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking), BSM (Blind Spot Monitoring), TSR (Traffic Sign Recognition), and more. These features help drivers navigate most situations with ease.

In terms of comfort, the Jaecoo J7 offers basic electric seats, and it also includes a seat ventilation function. Imagine if your car had been parked under the hot sun all day; you definitely wouldn’t want to sit on a scorching seat. But with the seat ventilation function, the heat is quickly dissipated, ensuring that your back stays cool and comfortable while driving.

Overall, the Jaecoo J7 offers a luxurious driving experience. If you're not completely against electric vehicles, the PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) version of the Jaecoo J7 will also be available in Malaysia, with an expected price around RM170,000. This version will offer better performance and even better fuel efficiency. If you're interested, we can introduce it next time.

Traz, as a newly launched mid-sized SUV, offers more spacious room and mainstream power compared to small SUVs, but its pricing appears slightly higher than that of Ativa. Ativa, on the other hand, is Perodua's long-time best-selling small SUV with more affordable pricing and a balanced combination of power and tech features.

Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?

Before the official launch of the Perodua Traz, market expectations were actually very high because it shares the same DNGA platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, sharing the same platform does not equate to the same experience, and the Traz's final performance has indeed been disappointing. Perhaps it is precisely because of the delayed launch that it has almost no competitiveness in the current competitive environment.

Will the Toyota Yaris Cross come to Malaysia? If it comes, how much will it sell for?

The launch of Perodua Traz indicates that the market size of small SUVs in Malaysia has been expanding in recent years. However, the question naturally shifts back to Toyota. As a brand with the most comprehensive product line and a strong foundation in both the SUV and hybrid sectors, will Toyota choose the Yaris Cross to participate in this small SUV competition?

Why is the Toyota Sienna so popular with so many people?

In Malaysia, most family MPVs choose Toyota Alphard, Vellfire, or Kia Carnival. These models each have their advantages in luxury, space, or brand influence, but models that truly balance large space, multifunctional practicality, fuel efficiency, and reliability are rarely seen.
