Renault's hydrogen fuel electric vehicle will debut at the Paris Motor Show! The range reaches 1000km!

Renault will unveil its hydrogen fuel cell concept car, the Renault Eblème, for the first time at the Paris Motor Show on October 14. The car's development goal is to achieve the best possible level of decarbonization throughout its lifecycle. Renault says that compared to similar vehicles produced today, the Renault Embleme sedan can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90% throughout the entire process from production to scrap recycling. The Renault Electric Vehicle Division Ampere will announce all the details of the Eblème at the end of October.
This concept car is based on the CMF-EV platform of the Renault-Mitsubishi-Nissan Alliance, which has been applied to mass-produced models such as the Renault Megane E-Tech and Nissan Ariya. The Renault Embleme C-class hatchback car is powered by an electric power system supplied by a 40 kWh battery, suitable for daily commuting. It can switch to a hydrogen fuel cell for long-distance travel. Does this power mode sound like the popular range-extended vehicles today? The difference is that Renault chooses to power the battery with hydrogen fuel, rather than gasoline, which is currently the mainstream choice in the market.
Renault says the 214 PS wire rotator electric motor of Renault Emblème uses no rare earth metals, it is powered by a small NMC battery, which is lighter, cheaper, more convenient, and more environmentally friendly than the battery of a long-range electric car. The Renault Emblème also comes with a 40 PS fuel cell, powered by low-carbon hydrogen through a 2.8 kg (6.16 lbs) tank, providing the power needed for long-distance travel, with a maximum efficiency of 60%.
Renault claims that the dual power system can make the vehicle's cruising range up to 621 miles (1,000 kilometers), although this is a gap from the 2000km endurance of the DMI technology launched by China's car manufacturer BYD, it’s enough to cover daily travel and long-distance needs. It is worth mentioning that the "refueling" time of this car is the same as the time it takes for an internal combustion engine car to fill up with gas. On an eco-friendly level, other than water this car doesn’t produce any other pollutants while driving.
Currently, the more noticeable hydrogen energy car on the market is the Toyota Mirai, which served as the official car during the Paris Olympics. As the world pursues the proposition of eco-friendliness, hydrogen energy fuels are also providing a solution.
Under the call for a clean and environmentally friendly wave in the global market, electric cars were born in this era background. But everyone who pays attention to electric cars knows that anxiety about endurance is a notable problem when buying electric cars. Therefore, range-extended vehicles are coming from the user's perspective to extend the car's driving range. At present, most of them still operate in the form of using gasoline to generate electricity for batteries. Compared with the difficult-to-preserve hydrogen fuel, gasoline is relatively cheaper, but it goes against the original eco-friendly concept. Nevertheless, technology is always the beacon of human progress. We should give those car companies who are exploring the frontier technology field the opportunity to make mistakes and ultimately bring the spark of technology to thousands of households.
