Is the Mazda electric Sedan a competitor to the Tesla Model 3? At the beginning of the year, Chinese media reported that Mazda is developing two new models based on Changan prototypes, codenamed J90A and J90K, which are planned to be launched in 2024 and 2025 respectively. On April 13, Changan Mazda in China released a partial image of an upcoming pure electric rear-wheel drive car, showing the tail light of the car. It can be seen that it adopts a through-style design, with the internal light source in a dot matrix style, which looks very delicate and fashionable, but also quite familiar.
Interestingly, a photo of the tail light of this car has just been leaked online. In addition to adopting a through-style design, the light sources on both sides are semicircular, which is undoubtedly a design language synonymous with the Mazda family.
From the leaked photos that have been released, the Deepal SL03 seems to be wearing a camouflage body. For Mazda-style tail lights, this may indicate changes in model names and minor design changes.
Due to the low resolution of the photos and the camouflage, it's hard to distinguish between Mazda and Deepal, but the shape of the cars, including the side windows, looks very similar.
Changan has also confirmed this cooperation to the Chinese media. The Japanese automobile manufacturer has registered the EZ-6 and EZ-60 trademarks in China, suitable for electric sedans and SUVs, including the European 6e. A senior official at Mazda America confirmed that the company's next electric vehicle to be launched in North America will be launched in 2025 and will use the current product lineup.
