【PCauto】Recently, the Malaysian government has intensified its crackdown on fake seatbelt buckles, with various law enforcement agencies joining forces to completely eradicate this hazard to traffic safety. The Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Living Costs (KPDN) are prioritizing the fight against fake seatbelt buckles, aiming to curb this issue at its source.

In subsequent actions, the police have set up roadblocks and conducted random checks to strictly inspect passing vehicles. Meanwhile, local governments have strengthened supervision over the automotive parts market, imposing severe penalties on merchants selling fake seatbelt buckles, which may include fines and business suspensions.

The government has stated that fake seatbelt buckles not only fail to provide protection in accidents but also mislead drivers and passengers into believing they are safe. Data shows that in traffic accidents involving fake seatbelt buckles, the risk of injury or death to passengers significantly increases. Therefore, the government urges the public not to overlook safety for the sake of convenience.

This joint crackdown has received widespread support from all sectors of society. Many car owners have expressed their willingness to cooperate with the government's efforts by voluntarily removing fake seatbelt buckles and replacing them with standard seatbelts. Additionally, some car manufacturers have stated that they will enhance the promotion of vehicle safety equipment to remind consumers to use standard seatbelts.

Although the crackdown has achieved some success, there are still some unscrupulous merchants and car owners who take chances. In response, the government has stated that it will continue to strengthen law enforcement and conduct irregular special operations to ensure road safety. At the same time, it hopes that the public will actively report violations to jointly maintain good traffic order.

Seatbelts are the last line of defense for life safety, and using fake seatbelt buckles is undoubtedly playing with one's life. It is hoped that car owners and passengers will raise their safety awareness, abandon fake seatbelt buckles, and together create a safe travel environment.
