Toyota is embroiled in another "fraud" scandal! Test data fraud, multiple models are ordered to be rectified!

On July 31, the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism issued a "rectification order" to Toyota, requiring Toyota to rectify illegal operations in the testing of mass-produced models.

According to the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, after conducting an internal inspection of Toyota Motor Company, it was found that there were seven models that had violated the "type designation" certification, including "Harrier", "Lexus RX" and other models. The violations included the use of parts that did not meet the specifications of mass-produced models during crash tests and other tests, as well as the alteration of test data.

This is the second time this year that Toyota has been reported to have violated regulations during testing. In early June, The Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism first pointed out that 38 models of Toyota, Mazda, Yamaha Engines, Honda and Suzuki were involved in fraudulent activities during the application process for mass production certification. Among them, the testing methods of 7 models did not meet government standards, while the pedestrian and passenger protection test data of the models corolla Fielder/Axio and Yaris Cross produced on the production line were insufficient.

In fact, as of January 26 this year, Toyota has been conducting a self-review of model certification application in accordance with the requirements of the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. On July 5, Toyota announced that it had conducted an internal investigation of all models sold in Japan over the past 10 years and found no new misconduct. But based on the current investigation results, it is clear that Toyota's statement was not true.
