The 2023 BYD Dolphin Dynamic Standard Range Edition is a B-class car that comes with a price tag of RM 100,530 (without insurance). It is completely imported (CBU) from China.

Power System

The vehicle features a front-wheel drive with a single electric motor, a battery capacity of 44.9 kWh LFP, and supports 7 kW AC, 60 kW DC, and CCS2 for charging. The power output of the vehicle is 95 PS with a torque of 180 Nm. The 0-100 km/h acceleration takes 11.9 seconds.

Vehicle Dimensions

The vehicle measures 4,290 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, 1,570 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. In comparison, the Perodua Myvi measures 3,895 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width, 1,515 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,500 mm, which makes the BYD Dolphin significantly larger.

Interior Configuration

The vehicle's interior feels spacious and airy with a lower dashboard. Most materials are hard plastic with some faux leather in certain areas. The buttons have a poor feel, and the dashboard switches are fragile. It features a 12.8-inch rotatable touch screen infotainment system with the BYD logo, which boasts a high resolution and fast response. However, the user interface has some issues, as the software translation is strange, and the navigation of the functions is complex; the adjustment of the climate control requires a multi-layered menu, and the dashboard is overloaded with information. A high-definition surround view camera is available, which is useful for parking. The vehicle also includes storage trays and compartments, but the central storage area lacks a cover. The rear space of the vehicle is commendable, and it has a boot space of 345 litres, which is deep but not large with no front trunk.

Safety System

The vehicle comes with six airbags and a comprehensive advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), though there are some issues. The continuous warning noise is annoying, the lane keep assist and emergency turn assist can sometimes become too aggressive, even dangerous. The lane centering system, however, works in harmony with the adaptive cruise control.
