At the KIA booth at this Bangkok Auto Show, we saw the Carnival. A few days before the auto show, the Carnival received its facelift. The biggest highlight of this facelift is the addition of a new sub-model, named the Carnival 2.2 SXL Luxury, with an official guide price of 2,990,000 baht. This car is positioned as the highest configuration model, and the price is also the highest among all sub-models. It also adopts the 7-seat layout, with seats arranged 2+2+3. Let's learn about this new model together.
KIA Carnival Official Guide Price:
-Carnival 2.2 LX:1,892,000 baht
-Carnival 2.2 EX:2,234,000 baht
-Carnival 2.2 SXL:2,594,000 baht
-Carnival 2.2 SXL Luxury:2,990,000 baht
At the same time, it is known that the new car is imported from Malaysia in complete form, and the corresponding warranty policy includes a 5-year or 150,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and 5 years of road rescue service.
The new model maintains consistency with other models in terms of design. The body size is 5155×1995×1740mm, and the wheelbase is 3090mm with a minimum ground clearance of 172mm. Over 5 meters in length and 3 meters in wheelbase, it is considered a relatively large MPV model, which is suitable for designing second-row single seats. Judging from the seating layout of the new car, it is evident that Carnival still wants to cater to family use while being able to accommodate some business travel, therefore, it emphasizes the comfort of the second-row single seats more. At the same time, we noticed that the third-row seats can be completely stored under the floor of the vehicle, which means that it can fully transition into a 4-seater. This greatly enhances the storage capacity of the trunk and can accommodate more driving scenarios.
The design style of the Carnival has always exhibited a hint of an SUV's style. Its silhouette is fairly squared, and compared to most MPVs, the Carnival's body has more edges and corners. The Carnival has always touted high practicality and is a classic MPV that adopts an electric sliding door design. It is evident from the exhibited model at the auto show that the entire car has a high degree of blackening, even if its rims are black, which is unusual for MPVs. Because it has a body height of nearly 2 meters, it looks more like a full-size SUV from the side. Its C-pillar part is added with striking chrome decoration to create a sense of a long tail. The tail seeks simplicity in design, it owns a full-width tail lamp and a high-mounted brake lamp. However, unlike an SUV, the rear window is not equipped with a wiper.
The interior adopts a dual-screen design, and the T-shaped center console is a very standard design method. And you can find that a large number of physical buttons are retained. There is a prominent bulge on the top of the dashboard. This design is presumably to avoid the reflection of the dashboard under the sun so that the driver can always see the information on the dashboard. The biggest difference in the interior of the new model is the layout of the seats, which the middle row uses individual seats.
In terms of the power system, all models are equipped with a 2.2T four-cylinder diesel engine with a compression power of 16:1. The maximum power of the engine is 202PS, the corresponding engine speed is 3800rpm, and the peak torque is 441N·m with the corresponding speed is 1750-2750rpm. The engine is matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the vehicle provides four driving modes including eco mode, normal mode, sport mode, and intelligent mode.
The Carnival 2.2 SXL Luxury model, as the top configuration model, has exclusive features. These features include 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, electrically adjustable second-row seats (including leg rests), and heating, ventilation, and massage functions for the second-row seats. Accordingly, its price is more expensive than other sub-models.
