The starting price of Proton X90 is RM 123,800, a D-segment MHEV with 7-seater SUV

The X90 is the third SUV from Malaysia's Proton, and it's also the third Geely brand model to follow the Proton X70 and Proton X50. In comparison to traditional competitors like the Mazda CX-8 and the Hyundai Santa Fe, the X90 is the most affordable in its class.
The X90 is positioned above the X70 and is a 3-row D-segment SUV, available in four models, respectively:
Standard – RM 123,800
Executive – RM 130,800
Premium – RM 144,800
Flagship – RM 152,800
All four models are powered by a Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) system, which pairs a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with a 48V Belt Starter Generator (BSG). It can produce a combined output of 190 PS and 300 Nm and is paired with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT).
The Proton X90 is also Proton's first hybrid model. The MHEV system consists of six main hardware components: the starter generator, hybrid power management system, lithium-ion battery, battery management system, DC-DC converter, and hybrid power control module.
Proton claims that the combination of mild hybridization improves fuel efficiency by 15% compared to models without a 48V system. Malaysian Tiger also claims that the X90's fuel consumption is 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
Apart from the Flagship model which comes with 6 seats, all other models of the X90 are equipped with 7 seats.
Aside from being a 6-seater, another unique feature of the X90 Flagship is its panoramic sunroof. All models come standard with a large 12.3-inch infotainment display.
Proton X90 has received a 5-star NCAP rating from ASEAN, but ADAS is only provided on the two highest specification models (Premium and Flagship), which include:
- Automatic emergency braking (AEB)
- Lane keep assist system (LKA)
- Intelligent cruise control (ICC, operating range is 0 to 150 km/h)
- Lane change assist system (LCA)
- Rear collision warning (RCW)
- Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)
- Traffic sign information (TSI)
- Intelligent high beam control (IHBC)
Premium and Flagship also come equipped with an automatic parking assist system and Nappa leather interior.
With a price range from RM 124,000 to RM 153,000, the Proton X90 is a commendable product. It offers all the mainstream features currently available in all cars, let alone D-segment SUVs. These two factors alone are enough for you to choose the X90.
