On July 8, the 2025 BYD DOLPHIN was officially launched in China. The new car launched a total of 4 configuration models, and the price range is 99,800-129,800 RMB. As a revamped model, the new car has made upgrades in terms of endurance and power, with the CLTC pure electric range increasing to 520km.
This upgrade mainly focuses on improving endurance, where the power battery pack capacity of the entry-level vitality version has been upgraded from 32.256 kilowatt-hours to 44.928 kilowatt-hours, and the CLTC pure electric range has been increased from 302km to 420km. The power battery pack capacity of the top configuration model has been upgraded from 44.928 kilowatt-hours to 60.48 kilowatt-hours, and CLTC pure electric range has been increased from 401km to 520km.
Meanwhile, the knight version of the model increases the maximum power of the drive motor from 130 kilowatts to 150 kilowatts, and peak torque increases from 290 Nm to 310km. The official 0-50km/h acceleration time is 3.5 seconds, and top speed is 160km. The rest of the version models are equipped with a maximum output 70 kilowatt and peak torque 180 Nm drive motor. In addition, the official 0-50km/h acceleration time is 3.9 seconds and the top speed is 150km/h.
There is not much change in terms of appearance. The overall appearance continues the styling design of the old model and adopts the Marine aesthetic design style, which is fashionable and personalized. In terms of size, the new Dolphin measures 4125 (4150) /1770/1570mm in length, width and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2700mm.
In terms of interior, it similarly continues the old model's layout design. It is equipped with a 12.8-inch rotatable floating PAD and 5-inch LCD display, and comes with the DiLink smart car machine system. And it supports 4G network, voice recognition wake-up, application store, mobile APP remote control and other functions.
It is worth mentioning that on July 4, at the completion of BYD's Thailand factory and the offline ceremony of the 8 millionth electrified vehicle, DOLPHIN appeared in the identity of BYD's 8 millionth electrified offline vehicle, helping BYD become the first car company in the world to achieve this feat.
Since its launch in August 2021, BYD DOLPHIN has won the annual sales champion of the domestic A0 market in 2022 and 2023. Among them, in 2023, 367,419 cars created a new record of annual sales in the domestic A0 class market, and won the domestic A0 class car sales crown for 27 times.
As for overseas markets, as of May 2024, BYD DOLPHIN has been exported to Thailand, the United Kingdom, Norway, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and other countries and regions, with a total export volume of over 90,000 units. Since August 2023, BYD DOLPHIN has won the monthly sales champion of pure electric models in the Thai market 6 times, and became the sales champion of electric vehicles in the Brazilian market in 2023.
