  • Overview of the series

GWM Malaysia plans to launch two models of the GWM Cannon in Malaysia, respectively focusing on the lifestyle version and the tougher work vehicle.

    Power system

The GWM Cannon is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel four-cylinder engine, boasting 163 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, mated to a ZF-manufactured 8-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with a part-time 4x4 system.

    Interior configuration

The base version mixes interior materials, and some of the plastic appears to be cheap. Its infotainment system performs well (9-inch digital display, supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), the analog dashboard is simple and clear, major controls such as the AC and driving mode selectors are easy to operate switches and knobs. The higher-end P12 version comes with more leather, better plastics, a digital dashboard, and more comfort features. But the P11 version lacks a boarding ladder inside the tailgate and an easy-to-lift tailgate, although the interior space can accommodate 5 adults.

    Power performance

The 2.0-litre engine is one of the quieter diesel engines available, with smooth, sophisticated operation and less vibration and noise entering the cabin.

    Fuel consumption

Specific fuel consumption data has not been given and will need to be tested over a longer period of time after the vehicle goes on sale.

    Driving experience

The ride quality meets the standard for work-oriented trucks, and moderate driving in town will be comfortable. But the turning radius is large, making compact U-turns a bit inconvenient.
