  • Overview of the Series

Hyundai Creta is the second B-segment SUV launched by Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) in Malaysia, following the launch of Hyundai Kona. This is the first time the B-segment SUV is introduced to the Malaysian market. This model is imported (CBU) from Indonesia and only offers the Creta Plus single version in Malaysia, with a price of 149,888 ringgits.

    Power System

Creta is equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Smartstream petrol engine that can generate 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. It matches Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) CVT automatic transmission, with power delivered to the front wheels. The IVT transmission performs smoothly at low speeds, but reacts slowly when accelerating. Since the test vehicle's mileage is less, a complete evaluation will be given later.

    Interior Configuration

The interior adopts fabric seats and hard plastics, the overall texture is not good, but the space is spacious, and the rear legroom is large. The Creta version comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 10-inch clear driver's dashboard, a tiltable and telescopic steering wheel, and a Hyundai SmartSense ADAS kit.

    Driving Experience

Creta's performance in driving and comfort is average, the rear seats lack support, there is a feeling of bumpiness when driving, the body rolls obviously when cornering, and the noise in the car is relatively large.

    Conclusion

Hyundai Creta is not a perfect SUV. Although it has some nice convenience features and the power system is acceptable for daily use, its price is high in the Malaysian market, and it is at a disadvantage compared to locally assembled Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross.
