  • Overview

The Proton Exora is a family car launched by Proton in 2009 and is currently the only MPV of the brand. During its 10 years of production, it underwent 3 updates: a turbo engine was added in 2011, the exterior was updated in 2017, and the latest version was launched in 2019.

    Powertrain

Since 2011, the Proton Exora has been equipped with a 1.6L DOHC turbo engine. The power response is quick with a light press on the throttle, 0-100km/h acceleration takes 11 seconds, 0-100-0km/h takes 15 seconds. Although the CVT gearbox is smooth, its response is relatively slow, steering feels heavy, it can maintain stability at high speeds, but driving in the parking lot is more laborious.

    Fuel Consumption

On the test route, the fuel consumption of the Proton Exora is 9.78 litres/100 kilometers. Considering that it is a heavy MPV, high fuel consumption is within expectations. The fuel supply uses the traditional intake port injection method.

    Vehicle Dimensions

The panel gaps of the body range from 3.5mm to 5mm, relatively high.

    Interior Configuration

The interior of the Proton Exora has been upgraded to create a high-end atmosphere. The seats are made of a combination of leather and fabric, comfortable but with some issues. There are many storage spaces in the car, but the depth is insufficient. The position of the control console is relatively low, which is hard to reach, and the use of the USB port is inconvenient. Infotainment system includes "Hi Proton", USB mirroring, WiFi, etc., but the "Hi Proton" function is limited, and the built-in music app's songs are outdated.

    Safety System

Proton Exora has added ESC in its updates, but it still only has 2 airbags.

    Proton Exora Pros and Cons

    Pros

    Outstanding space, comfortable interior decor
Good seat support, diverse adjustments and configurations, high practicality
The rooftop AC vent can quickly cool down the three rows of seats, and there are ten bottle holders in the car
Offers a 5-year or 150,000 kilometer warranty (whichever comes first) and 5 years of free labor services

    Cons

The appearance is slightly outdated, the sides and back look square
The interior is spacious and comfortable, but not modern and fashionable enough, the dashboard is simple, the all-black theme appears monotonous, except for the touch screen information entertainment system, there are no other attractive advanced features

    Conclusion

Proton Exora has its advantages and shortcomings, space and practical configuration are the highlights, but there is room for improvement in terms of the sense of fashion in appearance and interior decoration.
