Power system

The CVT automatic transmission in the Proton Persona is its biggest drawback, as it suffers from the rubber-band effect and produces noticeable noise. In comparison, the Volkswagen Vento with the 1.2-liter TSI engine is the only turbocharged B-segment sedan available in Malaysia, offering a relatively higher torque output within its segment.

Safety System

The Proton Persona offers 6 airbags, stability control, and a touchscreen infotainment system, with prices starting below 60,000 MYR. In comparison, the Toyota Vios now comes standard with 7 airbags, along with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The Volkswagen Vento offers only 4 airbags across all variants, and the 1.6 MPI engine model lacks stability control, with only the 1.2 TSI engine variant featuring stability control.

Interior Configuration

The Proton Persona comes with a touchscreen infotainment system. The Toyota Vios has a 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system but lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Honda City follows the "maximum space, minimum machine" design philosophy, offering ample storage and spacious rear legroom, although after the 2017 update, its infotainment system is not as advanced as before.

Price

The Proton Persona is priced between 42,600 MYR and 54,600 MYR, making it one of the most affordable B-segment sedans on the market.
