  • Overview of the Series

The Honda City facelift was launched in Malaysia in August 2023. The changes are not significant, but it remains popular among typical Malaysian buyers. It faces competition from rivals like the Toyota Vios and Proton S70.

    Power System

The City RS e:HEV features a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine (98 PS/127 Nm) paired with two electric motors (109 PS/253 Nm). Its power delivery is responsive, making overtaking and cruising on fast lanes relatively easy.

    Fuel Consumption

The City RS e:HEV is an economical vehicle. During a long road trip over a New Year weekend, covering about 500 km, it achieved a fuel consumption of 4.88 L/100 km, or 20.4 km/L, using approximately half a tank of fuel.

    Vehicle Dimensions

The trunk volume of the City RS e:HEV is 410 liters, smaller than the 519 liters of the gasoline version. The legroom in the back row is ample, and all versions offer 60:40 folding rear seats.

    Interior Configuration

The remodeled City retains the previous design with its simple interior. The dashboard layout is convenient. The model features simple twist knobs to adjust the climate control, and the steering wheel has solid buttons. The standard interior comes with 4 USB charging ports. All versions come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (except the basic S version), with wireless features provided in the gasoline and hybrid RS versions. The wireless charging feature is missing in the top-end version.

    Safety System

All newly remodeled versions come standard equipped with the advanced Honda Sensing safety system.

    Honda City Pros and Cons

    Pros

The interior space is excellent, with good comfort, especially the rear legroom and thigh support are excellent, at a higher level of vehicle level
The 1.5-liter gasoline engine is a bit old, but performs well with some driving pleasure
Equipped with a wealth of features such as electric sunroof, full LED headlights, leather interior, side air curtains and one-button start system

    Cons

The exterior design has been around for nearly a decade, slightly outdated, although attempts have been made to cover up with LED headlights and alloy rims, it still needs an update
Though the interior is rich and high-end, the layout of the dashboard and the central control panel needs upgrading, and the feel of some switches and plastic parts is not satisfactory

    Conclusion

The Honda City series has its advantages and disadvantages, with good space and power performance, rich configurations, but the appearance and interior details need improvement.
