Citroën, a renowned French automobile brand, was founded on June 4, 1919, by André Citroën. Acquired by Stellantis in 2021, it was previously a part of the PSA Group since Peugeot obtained an 89.95% share in 1976. The company's headquarters shifted to the Stellantis Poissy Plant in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine in 2021, having been located in Rueil-Malmaison earlier. Additionally, Citroën operates offices for studies and research in Vélizy-Villacoublay, Poissy (CEMR), Carrières-sous-Poissy, and Sochaux-Montbéliard. Citroën gained recognition for its innovative technology in 1934 with the Traction Avant, the world's first mass-produced car featuring front-wheel drive, four-wheel independent suspension, and unibody construction. Notably, it omitted a separate chassis, utilizing the car's body as the main load-bearing structure. The year 1954 marked another milestone for Citroën with the introduction of the world's first hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension system. Following this, in 1955, the revolutionary DS became the first mass-produced car equipped with modern disc brakes. In 1967, Citroën incorporated swiveling headlights in several models, enhancing visibility on winding roads. These innovations have earned Citroën numerous national and international awards, including three European Car of the Year accolades.
