Overview

Since its launch in 2016, more than 12,000 units of Mercedes-Benz GLC (X253) have been sold. The all-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC (X254) made its debut in Malaysia, Southeast Asia. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia only offers the fully imported (CBU) model, GLC 300, with a starting price of 429,888 Ringgit.

Power System

The Malaysian-spec GLC 300 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four gasoline engine (258 horsepower/400 Nm), paired with a 48V motor (23 horsepower/200 Nm), forming a mild hybrid system. Matched with a 9-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel drive. The engine responds promptly, power delivery is enough to meet most GLC owners’ needs for city driving. The steering is light and responsive.

Interior configuration

The interior of the X254 GLC 300 has a similar design to the W206 C Class, with a console layout that borrows from “small S Class”, featuring an 11.9-inch vertical infotainment screen in the middle. The control buttons are easy to operate, with a fixed position for AC control. The GLC 300 can accommodate 5 people, suitable for families with children.

Driving experience

Built on the same MRA platform as the W206 C Class, it offered a comfortable driving experience in Desa Parkcity. Even when driving over big potholes in the suburbs, it feels flexible. The front seats are better supportive and more comfortable than the previous generation, conducive to long-distance driving. Although the local-spec GLC 300 doesn’t have rear-wheel steering, it still is easy to handle which is great for beginners.

Conclusion

While the GLC 300 is not stand out in appearance, it offers a comfortable driving experience with large interior space, making it suitable for family travel.
