    • Overview of the Series

    The Subaru Forester is not a popular choice for family SUVs in Malaysia. Despite the fact that there's nothing wrong with this car, it's facing stiff competition in its market segment where there are many options.

    Powertrain

    Equipped with a non-turbocharged 2-liter engine and CVT transmission, with a maximum output of 156 PS and maximum torque of 196 N·m. The engine speed is about 1600 rpm when it is cold-started and about 800 rpm after stabilized. Highway cruise is about 2000 rpm, 0 - 100km/h acceleration takes 11.7 seconds, the braking distance of 100km/h is 40.5 m. In "S" mode, the CVT's simulated shifting effect is good, with standard paddle shift.

    Fuel Consumption

    With 50% urban and 50% highway driving, average fuel consumption is 10.4 l/100km.

    Body Size

    A trunk space of 505 liters (in 5-seat state) is not the largest in its class.

    Internal Configuration

    The car is equipped with aluminum pedals, a compact and ergonomic steering wheel, sports-style foot rest, a central digital display that can show the oil temperature, water temperature, and throttle inputs, a solid-feeling gear lever, and electrically adjustable seats. But Android Auto/Apple Car Play is not available in the 2.0i-S ES version, this feature is exclusive to the Subaru Forester GT version. The seats are comfortable, with tightly fitting removable seat covers. The fit and finish inside the car is well done, with lines extending from the doors to the dashboard, which feels good. The second row has ample leg and head room.

    Safety System

    Equipped with Subaru EyeSight, AEB, lane departure warning, blind spot information system (BLIS), but lacks lane keeping assist and 360 degree panoramic camera, the latter is available in the Forester GT version.

    Conclusion

    This Subaru compact crossover has its advantages, such as comfortable and spacious interiors and excellent drive, but it also has some drawbacks, such as insufficient power and handling, and limitations in color choices.
