Overview

The 2024 Honda Civic FL5 made its global debut in July 2022 and launched in Malaysia in September 2023, with only 19 units for sale at a slightly lower price of 400,000 MYR.

Power System

It is equipped with an upgraded version of the (K20C) 2.0-litre VTEC turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which can produce 319 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. The power is delivered to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a helical limited-slip differential, as well as an automatic rpm matching system. It also has a lighter flywheel and an improved rpm matching system. In addition, the car has four driving modes, including a new personalized mode.

Design

The exterior design is unique, though aggressive but low-key. Unlike the FK8, it can blend into traffic, with subtle but powerful differences like the air intakes on the hood, wheel arches, etc. Also, the black rear spoiler and 19-inch matte black rims contrast with the white body.

Interior Configuration

The interior is practical, comfortable and special, similar to the regular Civic, with ample legroom in the rear. The seats are comfortable, the air conditioning is excellent, and it's quiet and refined. The iconic red seats are highly praised for their support and softness. However, it doesn't come with the Bose premium sound system of the Civic e:HEV RS.

Driving Experience

It starts with a sharp roar, followed by a unique hum, with overall minimal noise. The clutch is light, the shift is precise, and it can quickly rev up to 3000 rpm in first gear. It rides smoothly at 70-80 km/h, and it can go into 6th gear at around 60 km/h. The clutch is light, the brake pedal is strong and well-regulated, and the Hill Hold Assist feature is practical. When accelerating to full speed, the engine is powerful, the rpm climbs rapidly, the shift signal is clear, and the brakes perform excellently. The suspension performs excellently, with strong grip. Although the steering is not as direct as the FK8, it is better than the Golf R, and the acceleration in 3rd and 4th gears is rapid.
