  • Overview of the series

    The Hyundai Ioniq 6, launched in July 2023, initially had two models, the Ioniq 6 Max RWD and Max AWD. Recently, the Lite and Plus variants have been added, now there are a total of 4 models. The price and cruising range are as follows:

    Lite RWD is priced at 219,888 MYR, with a range of 429km;

    Plus RWD is priced at 249,888 MYR, with 429km of range;

    Max RWD is priced at 289,888 MYR, with 614km of range;

    Max AWD is priced at 319,888 MYR, with a range of 519km.

    Power system

    The newly added Lite and Plus RWD variants are driven by a rear axle electric motor with 150 PS / 350 Nm. The Max RWD has 268 PS and 350 Nm of power. The Max AWD variant (introduced in this article) has 325 PS and 605 Nm of torque. All variants have a maximum speed of 185 km/h.

    Safety system

    All Ioniq 6 variants come standard with 7 safety airbags, ABS, ESC, Hill-Start Assist, Muti-Collision Brake (MCB), and ADAS systems with LKA, FCW, AEB, and ACC with Stop and Go functions. The higher three variants have added RCTA and FCTA, Blind Spot Assist and a 360-degree camera, and the top-spec Max AWD has Remote Smart Parking Assist.

    Interior configuration

    The front row has a dual 12.3-inch digital cluster and entertainment touch screen, the system is easy to use and intuitive, with physical buttons below to access important car functions with one click. The Ioniq 6 adopts a retro futuristic style, with good build quality and material use, comfortable seats, and good front and rear row. But the car has insufficient storage space, the steer-by-wire shift lever is not easy to get used to and insufficient thigh support for the rear seats. The car has good sound insulation.

    Power performance

    The Ioniq 6 has excellent throttle calibration, a sufficient pedal stroke, a full acceleration torque of 605 Nm, and the best 0-100km/h acceleration test time is 4.98 seconds. The brakes are powerful, with 4 energy recovery modes, the default "Level 2" mode is better and can achieve single-pedal driving. However, the car is over 2 tons in weight, it is flexible in the city, but it does not perform well on challenging roads, it will over-tilt in rapid changes of direction, and the suspension struggles to keep the body stable.

    Fuel consumption

    Hyundai claims that the Ioniq 6 Max RWD has a range of 519km (battery 77.4 kWh). Model 3 LR claims 629km, i4 eDrive35 and 40 are 483km and 590km respectively. In the test, the Ioniq 6 Max RWD traveled 115.1km, required 21.16 kWh to charge to 80% SOC, the average energy consumption was 18.38 kWh/100km, and it is reasonably estimated that it can travel about 450km on a full charge.
