Overview

Volkswagen Passat has been revamped earlier this year, and the 1.8 TSI model has been discarded. Currently, there is only Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TSI Elegant Edition.

Power System

Worldwide, the 2.0 TSI has two trims of 190 PS and 272 PS. Malaysia has chosen the 190 PS version. The acceleration performance of Passat 2.0 TSI Elegant Edition is good, with a 0 - 100 km/h test result of 8.1 seconds. However, the power system responds a little sluggishly when the accelerator pedal is pressed, which can be improved by activating the sports mode.

Fuel Consumption

In a journey of 78 kilometers, approximately 80% is freeway driving, and 20% is city driving. 5.1 liters of petrol is filled, and the computed fuel consumption per hundred kilometers is 6.5 liters, but the on-board computer indicates the average fuel consumption per hundred kilometers is 7.5 liters.

Interior Features

The revamped interior features brushed metal decorations and piano black inlays. The new steering wheel feels hefty, and the new infotainment system performs well, with a clear 9.2-inch display. The digital instrument cluster has also been updated. Wireless Apple CarPlay is convenient and practical, and all USB ports in the car are Type-C. However, the middle "Passat" logo is not as good as the previous classic analog clock. The interior space is spacious, more premium than Toyota Camry, and the trunk capacity reaches 586 liters.

Safety System

Passat Elegant Edition is only equipped with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. It lacks automatic emergency braking or any lane keeping assist, lagging behind competitors in safety.
